Kiss Of Midnight by Lara Adrian 5 Stars

This is the first book of the Midnight Breed Series and I must say I am hooked.

This story is about Lucan the oldest Gen One of the Warrior Breeds and Gabrielle Maxwell his breedmate.

When Gabrielle Maxwell witnesses a murder outside of a nightclub, she freezes but for some reason decides to take pictures of the attack/murder with her cell phone. Of course the police do not believe her when she shows the grainy photos and says it was a vampire attack.

Later "Officer" Lucan Thorpe shows up to take her cell phone to the lab and do more research making her hopeful that someone believes she is not crazy like her mother who was put in the loony bin.

Lucan knows he must stay away from her but he cannot, especially after he notices she has the mark of a breedmate. And, that she has photographs of the Rogue's (Bad Vamps)housing, that has been sold to the highest bidder the Rogues. She is in danger and needs to be under the protection of the Warrior Breeds at his house.

He tries hard to resist her, but in the end he can't. He's in love with her and will do anything to protect her from the leader of the Rogues, and their leader. Someone who Lucan knows very well.

Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning 5 STARS

I loved Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series, and decided to start her Fever Series. She's done it again. This series is amazing and keeps you wanting more. I can't wait for the third book FaeFever.

In Bloodfever, MacKayla Lane "Mac" has traded in her pastel colored clothing and sweet southern girl ways, to kick some Fae butt. She dyed her blonde hair black and traded it for dark colored clothes to hide the blood of the fae, she kills.

She's getting closer to the coveted "Sinsar Dubh", and that increases the dangerous people around her. In this book we meet two college students, one of whom knew her sister. Can he be trusted?

We get to know more of the hot Jericho Barrons, he is determined to protect her. But have any of you noticed he's not around during the daytime. I'm thinking he might be a vampire. Or that thing that lives under the garage. Since he has told Mac he's close by if she needs him. Also towards the end of the book when he's holding her, he buries his face in her neck and says, "I didn't want to do this." So that makes my vampire flag go up. I like them together. I think they're cute and the kiss that they shared in this book HOOOTTTT!!

Can't wait for FaeFever, and more Jericho (Or whoever he is) and Mac love.

After the Night by Linda Howard 4 1/2 Stars

Picked this book up at the Library and loved it.

Faith Devlin is a poor, outcast child in Prescott, Louisiana, whom absolutely adores Gray Rouillard, the town's golden boy from afar. But one fateful night he called her white trash when his rich, respected father disappeared, with her slutty mother.

Years later Faith wants to hate Gray Rouillard but she can't stop desiring him, any more than she could hide the truth about the past she had waited so long to unravel.

With Gray following her around waiting for her to show a sign she's just like her slut mother, she sets out to find the truth. That his father was murdered.

Throughout the book he sets out to hate her but starts to fall for her and help find out what truly happened that hot southern night when their lives were turned upside down.

A wonderful love story with mystery behind it. I'll definately be looking for more of Linda Howard books like this one.

Almost Forever by Linda Howard 2 1/2 Stars

Picked this up at the library because it sounded interesting. In the end, it was an okay read.

It's about Claire Westerbrook a secretary for a big company who falls in love with a guy who just moved to the city. Little does she know he was studying her company for a takeover.

When she finds out, she doesn't talk to him and when they do he says I'm sorry and they get together again. Blah, Blah, Blah...old story...old plot

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Ah the third book....YAY!!
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book to find out who Bella chooses. But at times I found her to enjoy being the center of attention between Jacob and Edward. She was leading Jacob on a little and I did not like that at all.

I do love however, how the werewolves and vampires banded together to protect Bella and the residents of Forks from the murderous vamps on the lose.

I thought all my questions would have been answered in this book, but they have not. I want more...and am so sad that I have to wait through Edwards side of things in his book "Breaking Dawn".

I hope the following book "Midnight Sun" is Jacob's story. I really hope he meets a girl that he can fall in love with because Bella is truly and completely Edwards girl. I want Edward to turn Bella and love her. I doubt there will be any love scenes though since it is Young adult. But I think that should be the next step.

Oh, and I cannot wait for the Movie. I just wish it would have been made a little earlier so Henry Cavill could have played Edward.

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer 5 Stars

So after reading Twilight I rushed right out so I can continue with my Bella & Edward Fix.

After Bella's attack in the last book Edward and his family keep a close watch on her. They even throw her a birthday party as if she is one of the family. Unforunately an incident at the birthday party forces "The Cullens" to leave for Bella's protection as well as their own.

Bella falls into despair when they leave and the only thing that helps her is her friendship with Jacob Black. A boy from the La Push reservation. Bella first goes to Jacob so he can fix up to motorcycles she just picked up. She finds that when she does dangerous things Edward's voice comes into her head. So she does alot of stupid things to hear him once again.

But she doesn't realize that the more time she spends with Jacob the more he is falling in love with her. And that Jacob and his friends at LaPush have a secret.

The boys at LaPush are werewolves and their number one enemies are vampires. So what is Bella to do when the Cullens come back....stay tuned for Eclipse.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer 5 Stars

I found out about this author on multiple message boards and just had to read this series.

Unfortunately out of the three closest libraries none of her books were available. They were either checked out, or not available. Anyways my friend gave me a B&N giftcard for my birthday and I knew just what to get, "TWILIGHT".

In the first book we are introduced to Isabela "Bella" Swan and Edward Cullen. I loved the interaction between these two. How Edward tried to stay away to protect his family secret and her, but couldn't.

Edward is very sweet and so protective of her that he disappears for a while, but can't stay away for too long.

I found that I couldn't put this book down, and only did when I kept shutting my eyes around 11:30 at night. I finished it in two days. I just knew I couldn't wait for the following two books to come out in PB, so I went and bought them in HB.

Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas (5 Stars)

I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down and when it was finished, I wanted more.
Liberty Jones moves to a trailer park with her mother and her mothers boyfriend when she's 14. There she meets Hardy Cates and falls in love with him. But he is 17. He tries to keep distant from her because he wants out of Welcome Texas, and wants nothing to hold him back. Liberty would hold him back.
Hardy leaves a few years later and Liberty is left there with her mother and new baby sister Carrington. Her mother goes out one night with the boyfriend and dies leaving Liberty to be a mother and sister to Carrington. Liberty is strong and goes to school, beauty school and gets a great job at a Houston hair salon. Where she meets her "Sugar Daddy".
Or so it seems, you'll have to read it to find out what I mean. While she finally has her life on track Hardy comes back into her life, and she has to make a choice. Does she want him, or does she want her "sugar daddy." Great book, and I loved the choice she made. I would have done the same.

Her Officer & A Gentleman by Karen Hawkins (4 Stars)

The ailing Duke of Rochester finds himself on his death bed with only illegitimate heirs. Concocting a plan to 'legitimise' them all upon his death, he instructs his butler extraordinaire, Reeves, to find the unsanctioned children and 'civilise' them.

No ordinary highwayman...A mere whisper of the name "Gentleman James" sends chills throughout the ton (and thrills the ladies who have heard rumors of his amorous exploits). But the dashing brigand never dreamed that the passing of the father he never knew would leave him with a title, a fortune...and a mission.
No predictable lady...Considered unmarriageable at twenty five, Lady Elizabeth has the perfect life, happily snuggled among her beloved books while caring for her curmudgeonly grandfather.

Or so she thinks until she meets Christian Llevanth, the dark and mysterious Viscount Westerville, and discovers the delicious ache of desire. Elizabeth finds herself longing for more. More romance, more excitement, and definitely more passion. But when does "more" become "too much"?

Prisoner of My Desire by Johanna Lindsey (4 Stars)

It is a dark time for Rowena Belleme. The striking and spirited lady must produce an heir, for failure to do so will incur the dangerous wrath of a ruthless stepbrother who stands to forfeit his ill-gotten wealth. But in all of England there is only one man whom Rowena would have sire her child. His name is Warrick deChaville, a magnificent knight who possesses the strength, intelligence, and courage -- as well as the extraordinary good looks -- that Rowena would have passed on to her son. But Warrick is proud and stubborn, and he will be no man's -- or woman's -- pawn. The lady must take drastic action and so she has the noble warrior taken prisoner, intending to force him to bend to her amorous will.

Captive, chained, and seething with rage, Warrick vows he will never surrender. But the lady's seductions are powerful -- her sapphire eyes and lush, intoxicating beauty weaken his resolve, and it is the knight's own virility that betrays him. Yet all the while he is plotting a fitting and most satisfying revenge ...

For Destiny's wheel is forever spinning, and Warrick knows the time will inevitably come when the imprisoned becomes the captor, with the power to make his sensual tormentor suffer as he did in exquisite ecstasy. But neither he nor the Lady Rowena anticipates the direction the wheel will turn -- uniting intimate adversaries against a deadly common enemy ... and joining two courageous hearts in passionate, unexpected love.
My Thoughts: Although I disagree with Rape, whether one is forced to do it to a person or not, I did like this story. I don't like how Warrick got his revenge on Rowena. At first I thought, there is no way I would be able to love a man who treated her no less then a servant and threw her into a dungeon. But what else did Rowena have, certainly not her evil step-brother. So, after getting through the book I gave it a 4 because I came around to liking the story and characters.

A Kiss Remembered by Sandra Brown (4 Stars)

Now, for all those who know me, I love Sandra Brown. So when I realized there was a book by her I hadn't read yet, I got excited and picked it up at the library immediately.

Shelley Browning is finally getting her life together. At 26, she's survived a failed marriage and is going back to school to finish her degree. Except history is about to repeat itself. During her first day on campus, Shelley finds herself in the class of Grant Chapman, her former government teacher, and the man whose kiss still burns in her memory from when she was 16. Certain he won't remember her she keeps her distance, until one day he insists they meet for coffee. Shelley finds him to be as brilliant as ever, and the chemistry between them unchanged. But the sacred law of the university prohibits the kind of relationship they are longing for. If they break it, they risk all they've both worked for; if they don't, they risk never knowing what could be.

My Thoughts: I liked the story. I could feel the love and passion these two characters had for eachother through every scene in the book. I liked that Grant, knew he could never look at Shelley again in High School, and left so it wouldn't be wierd for her. I love how Shelley would do everything in her power to not get Grant fired, by denying her love for him. But he always saw through it, because their love was too strong. Adorable couple, good book.

The Devil Who Tamed Her - Johanna Lindsey (3 1/2 Stars)

Ophelia Reid is an incomparable beauty with the reputation for starting rumors. Having purposely wrecked her engagement to Duncan MacTavish, a future marquis, which her social-climbing father arranged, Ophelia wants to return to London's marriage mart and make her own choice of a wealthy husband. But on her journey home, something unexpected happens....

The heir to a dukedom, Raphael Locke, Viscount Lynnfield, is the most sought-after young lord in England. He instantly disliked Ophelia when she caused a scandal to avoid marrying his friend MacTavish, but he begins to wonder if she's not all bad. So when MacTavish claims that Ophelia will never be anything but spiteful, Rafe bets his friend otherwise.

Whisking her -- chaperoned, of course -- to his country estate, Rafe shows his furious, sharp-tongued "guest" the error of her ways and discovers the surprising reasons for her bad behavior. When Rafe champions the new and improved Ophelia's re-entry to London society, marriage proposals pour in. Only then does Rafe wonder whether he hasn't gone and fallen in love with Ophelia himself....

My Thoughts: At first I didn't like the heroine, I thought she was a spoiled brat. But then as the story progressed and I found out why she acts the way she did, I understood, and grew to like her. Rafe was a good guy, and a perfect match for Ophelia.

Into The Dark - Cindy Gerard (4 Stars)

This is the 5th in Cindy Gerard's Bodyguard Series...and the long awaited reunion between Amy Walker and Dallas Garett. We were first introduced to these two in Ethan's Story, and now it's time for theirs. I gave this 4 stars.

Dallas Garrett returned from Jolo as a changed man. Though he knew it was for the best, when Amy Walker disappeared from his life, he felt a big gaping hole inside himself. Fighting his own demons, Dallas is shocked when Amy turns up on his doorstep, soaking wet and exhausted. Though barely a day went by that he didn't think about her, Dallas feels a sense of impending doom that he can't brush aside.

Dallas saved Amy once. She goes to him knowing that he is the sole person that can keep her safe. On a mission of revenge, Amy is determined to find her grandfather, Edward Walker, and kill him. Using mind control experiments on Amy's mother, Edward had Amy kidnapped by the terrorist group that held her captive for over six months. While needing his support, Amy doesn't want Dallas anymore involved that he already is. She soon realizes that Dallas will be impossible to brush off, even if she wanted to.

The long awaited conclusion of Amy and Dallas finds the two in Argentina where Amy looks for the man responsible for ruining her mother's life and almost ruining her own and Dallas just tries to keep Amy safe. Introducing an intriguing new character, Gerard has surely kept the door open for this series even though it is an end to E.D.E.N. I was thoroughly satisfied to the conclusion of these two characters.

The Higlander's Stolen Bride by Melanie George (5 Stars)

I absolutely loved this book. This one is going on my bookshelf, it's a KEEPER!

Lady Rosalyn Carmichael is on the run from her evil stepbrother, who will do anything to gain her inheritance. When Derek Hardwicke rescues her from an attempted kidnapping in London, she gratefully accepts the protection of his remote Scottish castle. And though Derek's devilishly handsome looks inspre scandalous fantasies, a secret from her past means those fantasies must forever remain dreams...

A Highland laird, Derek intends to marry his childhood friend Megan MacPherson, since only a Scottish wife will satisfy his clan. But beautiful Rosalyn awakens feeling he never dreamed he'd have. And while he has promised to keep her safe, the attraction between them burns too hot to deny. Now, with danger inching ever close he must choose between his allegiance to his clan and a passion like he's never known.

This book is the third in Melanie George's "The Pleasure Seekers" Series, but can be read alone.

The Might Quinns: Marcus by Kate Hoffman (4 Stars)

This was a really good book, I gave it 4 Stars.

Boat restorer Marcus Quinn is not going to sleep with the infamous Eden Ross. As soon as he discovers the poor little rich girl stowaway, he knows he should throw her overboard. Instead he tries his best to ignore her topless sunbathing and blatant teasing. But when that fails, what else can he do but give her exactly what she's asking for—frenzied, brain-numbing sex? And a little bit more…

With her sex video scandal about to hit the tabloids, Eden Ross just wants to hide out on her daddy's boat for a while. Then she finds mouthwatering Marcus Quinn working onboard, and she can't deny herself a little fun. After all, if Marcus thinks she is some serial sexpot out to use him for his body, how can it hurt to prove him…right?

I can't wait to read his brothers books "Ian" & "Declan":

Don't Talk Back To Your Vampire by Michele Bardsley (3 Stars)

This is the second book in Michele Bardsley's series of a small town of single parents, whom get attacked by a rogue vampire. They must all soon learn how to live and thrive as vampires, since their town is now becoming vampire central.

Eva LeRoy is the town librarian whom still runs the library and cares for her teenage daughter (who's funny too and falls for a vampire hunter). Lorcan is a handsome vamp who's been healed from 'the taint' which cause him to kill Eva and 11 other members of the community and he's guilt ridden although still VERY sexy.

I didn't like this one as much as the first one "I'm The Vampire, That's Why". But it was still a good read. And who can deny Lorcan the lonely.

Michele Bardsley is a good author who has done a great job on this series. The characters are hilarious, and the romances heart-warming.

Rating: 3 Stars

Elevator by Angela Hunt (1/2 Star)

I'm being nice hear folks, giving it even a 1/2 star. This story is about three women who get stuck in an elevator during a hurricane. One is a wife who just discovered her husband is cheating. Another woman just discovered she's pregnant and is the other-woman. And the third is an office cleaner, who has a secret of her own.
It sounded good, when I picked it up at the library. It failed to meet my expectations. Thank goodness, I didn't spend any money on this one.

Bride for a Knight (1 1/2 Stars)

I recently read "Bride for a Knight" by Sue-Ellen Welfonder, and found it well, rather boring. It took a long time to get into it, and when it finally started going somewhere it wasn't that good.

My rating for this book is a dismal 1 1/2 stars. Somebody just requested this book from me on paperbackswap.com. So at least I'll get a credit towards a book I want.
